Jasmine Megson is an emerging Meanjin (Brisbane) based visual artist who explores the relationship between identity and mental illness, particularly drawing from her own experiences. Many of her works include vibrant colours that can be identified using a self-created colour theory, exploring the translation of colour into emotions associated with mental health. Jasmine experiments with two-dimensional media, including painting and experimental photography, and plays with perspective to create a more immersive, spatial experience. By creating these kinds of works, Jasmine intends to spark conversation about mental illness and break the stigma created through societal misunderstandings.
