Jakob Perrett is a mixed-media visual artist who utilises a variety of digital and traditional techniques to illustrate the multi-faceted experiences of queer identifying people. Focusing on queer lives within the contemporary digital world, Jakob develops his work from intersecting discourses drawn from critical queer theory. Accordingly, his practice encapsulates the core of themes of fluidity and mutability that inform these discourses. Not only is this demonstrated within each individual artwork, but it is also indicative of the evolution his practice has undertaken. From criticising technology as a cis/het instrument for further exploitation, to embracing its limitless potential in speculating queer futures, Jakob creates snapshots of queer utopias or heterotopic worlds in which we can catechize the spaces we currently occupy.
